Composites bridge railings

Our partner Jules Dock Composites is currently producing 900 balluster poles for pedestrian
and bicycle bridges in Rotterdam on the RDM. By means of vacuum-infusion production
technique, the ballusters are made of fiber-reinforced plastic.

Composite bridge railings are lighter and easier to maintain compared to wooden or steel
bridge railings. What makes these bridge railings even more unique is the appearance of
bamboo wood. For this project specific base materials were produced to obtain this
appearance. This bamboo wood look gives the bridge a natural look that fits well within the
environment in which the bridges are placed.

Prior to the final production Jules Dock Composites also carried out the engineering process
and compiled the specific production technique.
